French Gambling Regulation Chair Established

In France, a gambling regulation chair was announced by the Bordeaux University Foundation, which pledged $291,000 over three years in support. Three research professors from the University's legal division will lead the chair, which will finance symposia, training and international visibility, and address public health, money laundering and crime, taxation, jobs and economic development.

The Bordeaux University Foundation in France recently announced it has pledged $291,000 over three years to establish and support a chair in gambling regulation. The chair will be led by three research professors from the University of Bordeaux’s legal division and will finance symposia, training and international visibility. Also, the chair will address aspects of public health, public order, money laundering and criminal networks, taxation and public finances, competition, jobs and economic development.

Participating gaming enterprises include the regulatory authority for online game, French Games, PMU, Moroccan games and sports, Betclic, Barrière and the Zeturf group.

More than 28 million French citizens participate in lottery, casinos, scratch games, online poker, sports betting and horseracing. Revenue has tripled over the past 20 years to $57 billion in 2016, generating $6 billion in taxes for state and local governments.
