French Online Gambling Still Slumping

Quarterly results for French online gaming show a slight decline in overall online gambling and a five percent decline in online poker.

Quarterly results from French online gambling regulator ARJEL show national online gambling revenue in the third quarter of 2015 was down 0.3 percent for a total of 176.1 million Euros with online poker the worst performer, declining 5 percent to 54 million Euros.

Sports betting was the country’s strongest areas, with a 3 percent rise to 62 million Euros over the third quarter of 2014. Horse racing also showed a 5 percent gain to 60.1 million Euros.

ARJEL chief Charles Coppolani acknowledged the soft numbers, but said he was optimistic that more poker variants would be permitted by the end of 2015.
