Galaxy Entertainment of Macau has opened a new premium-mass gaming area at its Galaxy Macau resort on the city’s Cotai Strip. According to GGRAsia, the Horizon VIP room has 19 tables and three private gaming rooms. Despite the VIP designation, however, the space was designed to accommodate cash play, rather than elite customers brought in by junkets.
The gaming zone is open by invitation only for top-tier players’ club members. It is separated from the mass floor by a screen.
Raymond Yap Yin Min, senior vice president in charge of premium market development for Galaxy, said players will need to meet the table minimum bets stipulated for the Horizon VIP area by the resort’s management. He did not specify those figures. Yap said the company invested more than HKD30 million (US$3.9 million) to develop the Horizon VIP area.
