Gaming Board, Liquor Commission Officials Fired

No reason has been given for the terminations of Illinois Gaming Board Administrator/Director Mark Ostrowski and Illinois Liquor Control Commission Executive Director Donovan Borvan and Chief Legal Counsel Sean O'Leary. Ostrowski joined the gaming board in 2001. Borvan joined the liquor commission in February 2017, O'Leary in July 2016.

Illinois Gaming Board Administrator/Director Mark Ostrowski and Illinois Liquor Control Commission Executive Director Donovan Borvan and Chief Legal Counsel Sean O’Leary all recently were let go from their positions. No reasons were given for the terminations.

Regarding Ostrowski, officials in the administration of Governor Bruce Rauner said, “We wish him well in his future endeavors.” Ostrowski had been with the gaming board since 2001.

Liquor Control Commission Board Chair and Director of Revenue Connie Beard said, “We appreciate everything that both Donovan Borvan and Sean O’Leary have done in serving the commission for the past few years. It is unfortunate that both personnel actions occurred so closely together, but we wish them all the best in their future endeavors.” Rauner named Borvan to his post in February 2017 and O’Leary in July 2016.
