Since GAMSTOP’s self-exclusion list debuted, 82 percent of players have stopped or reduced gambling, according to research firm Sonnet. Based on the feedback of over 3,300 users of GAMSTOP, 84 percent of participants stated that they felt safer from gambling-related harms, according to SBCNews.

Financial losses were cited as the most important trigger for registering with GAMSTOP. The exclusion service resulted in positive outcomes with regards to improving personal/household finances (77 percent) and a reduction in anxiety or stress (72 percent).

More than 200,000 consumers have registered with GAMSTOP since the inception in 2018 and has now attracted a broad section of the population.

Researchers offered improvements such as better referrals to support specialists and the ability to be engaged by family and loved ones.

The report offered a broader strategy to make its self-exclusion scheme more visible for all U.K. communities.
