Gauselmann Buys into Berlin

The Gauselmann Group, which opened its first German casino in 2015 in Saxony-Anhalt, has acquired a 40 percent stake in Gustav-Jaenecke, owner of Spielbank Berlin. Spielbank operates five gaming halls in Berlin.

Spielbank partly owned by Novomatic

The Gauselmann Group, a family-owned gaming and entertainment company, has increased its presence on the German gaming scene by acquiring a 40 percent stake in Gustav-Jaenecke, owner of Spielbank Berlin. Spielbank, which is also partly owned by Novomatic, has five gaming locations in the German capital.

Gauselmann and Novomatic said they will work together for the success of Spielbank Berlin, the highest revenue-generator in Germany’s gaming industry.

“We are pleased that we have gained another strong partner in the Gauselmann Group, which just like Novomatic plays a decisive role in the international casino industry,” said Günter Münstermann, managing director of Spielbank Berlin. “We are confident that we can convince the state of Berlin that we will in future remain the best partner for casino entertainment in Berlin.”

In 2014, the Gauselmann Group won a license to operate for 15 years in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. That casino opened in January 2015.
