Malaysian casino giant Genting has begun construction on its giant Resorts World Las Vegas. The massive resort will rise on the site of the failed Echelon resort, a Boyd Gaming project.
Genting took over the property in 2013. Resorts World is expected to create 11,000 jobs in the Las Vegas market, and compete aggressively with Wynn Resorts, MGM Resorts International, Las Vegas Sands and Caesars.
The first phase will include 3,000 gaming tables on a 100,000-square-foot floor. When it’s finished, the resort will boast three hotel towers, a giant aquarium and a replica of the Great Wall of China. There are plans in the works for a theater, convention center and theme park.
