Unprecedented.
You hear that word bandied about during the crisis that evolved from the coronavirus Covid-19 situation. And it is indeed something that no one, not just the gaming industry, has had to confront before. Casinos closed, suppliers frozen, employees furloughed, stock prices plummeting, and fear is the main ingredient that unites all people.
For the gaming industry, there is a way back. But how, where, when and why are all the questions that remain unanswered.
As a public service to the industry, three industry information leaders—The Innovation Group, Regulatory Management Counselors, and Global Gaming Business Magazine (GGB)—have come together to produce a series of free webinars on what we know, what we expect and what will happen. Gaming In Crisis: The Road Back will attack different topics on each episode. The first session will look at how the CARES Act benefits gaming companies and what to expect when your human resources are in trouble, while the second one will outline the process and procedures toward reopening and how it will vary by jurisdiction and type of gaming establishment. Other sessions will focus on marketing, human resources, finance, tribal gaming and other departments and issues hard hit in this crisis.
The first session will be held on Thursday, April 16 at 2 p.m. Eastern, 11 a.m. Pacific. Here’s the description of the episode:
Beyond CARES: How the Relief Bill Helps the Industry and Employees and Where it May Fall Short

HR, finance and legal experts will weigh in on this session.
Topics Include:
- Who qualifies for assistance?
- What constitutes a large vs. a small business?
- What are the liability issues and mitigation?
The session will be moderated by Robert Russell, Gaming Analyst,, Regulatory Management Counselors, PC. Speakers include Jennifer Martinez, ,President and CEO, Consult HR Partners, LLC, and a former human resources vice president for several operators and suppliers; Anthony Sanfilippo, Co-founder of Sorelle Capital, Sorelle Entertainment and Sorelle Hospitality, and former president and CEO of Pinnacle Entertainment, and Matt Sodl, Founding Partner, President & Managing Director, Innovation Capital, a leading investment company in the gaming industry.
