The legalization of iGaming and sports betting in Michigan may not have been pretty, but it has been efficient and effective. As the prime sponsor of the bill, Brandt Iden struggled for several years to get it passed only to see former Governor Rick Snyder, a Republican like himself, veto the bill. Starting from square one with new Democrat Governor Gretchen Witmer, Iden was able to form a bi-partisan coalition that collected the best practices of iGaming legalization to help pass a law that has been successful from the start. After leaving the legislature, Iden joined SportRadar to help other states realize that realities and possibilities of legalizing iGaming and sports betting. He spoke with GGB Publisher Roger Gros from his home office in Michigan in June.
