Sally Gainsbury is one of the leading researchers into issues concerning problem gambling. As deputy director of the Gambling Treatment & Research Clinic at the University of Sydney she has had the opportunity to turn her research into results for those afflicted by the disease. Her background includes growing up in a family that was involved in horse racing and observing dysfunctional behaviors in other jobs, and makes her passionate about her work. She talks about her influences and the many opportunities she’s had to advance her career. She spoke with GGB Publisher Roger Gros from her offices in Sydney for January’s 25 People to Watch feature in GGB magazine.

Gros was named “Businessman of the Year” for 1998 by the Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Gaming Association in 2012 as part of the annual AGA Communications Awards.
