GLOBAL GAMING BUSINESS PODCAST: Tom Cantone, Vice President, Entertainment, Mohegan Sun

This week the GGB Podcast talks with Tom Cantone, the vice president of entertainment for Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, about his long career booking entertainment and how he changed the industry when working in Atlantic City.

Tom Cantone was hired to run entertainment at the Sands Casino in Atlantic City in the mid-1980s. He promptly changed the face of casino entertainment when he hired such cutting-edge stars as Eddie Murphy, Cher, Robin Williams and others—entertainers who never before would consider playing casinos. He later spent several years with the Trump organization in Atlantic City before moving to Connecticut, where he booked the acts at Foxwoods. Moving to Mohegan Sun, he can claim to have booked the biggest acts and most successful shows in the industry in the 13,000-seat arena at Mohegan Sun. He is scheduled to receive the Lifetime Achievement honor at the Casino Entertainment Awards at G2E in Las Vegas next month. He spoke with GGB Publisher Roger Gros from his office at Mohegan Sun in August.
