Phase I of an ongoing upgrade
The Gold Reef City Casino in Gauteng Province, South Africa has opened its all-new Salle Privé high-roller room. It is the first phase of Tsogo Sun’s overall renovation of the property in Ormonde, Johannesburg, and represents an R640million (US$44.3 million) investment. The new space includes a VIP reception area, private lounge with internet access, new slots tables and a private baccarat room.
According to the World Casino Directory, the main casino floor has also undergone an upgrade with new carpets and lighting.
“First and foremost, we set out to improve our guest experience wherever possible and it’s incredibly rewarding to enter the Privé and see our vision for the venue take shape,” said Mike Page, operations director and general manager of Gold Reef City. “We are looking forward to hosting our players in the most indulgent of settings.”
Gold Reef City first opened in 1997. Phase II of the renovation will include new theme park rides and a renovated museum section. An Apartheid Museum will be added and will include a permanent Nelson Mandela exhibit.
