Golden Entertainment Pays $20 Million for Montana Slot Route

A recent $20 million purchase of three Montana slot operators gives Las Vegas-based Golden Entertainment its first entry into the Montana gaming market. Golden Entertainment bought routes with 1,000 machines from Rocky Mountain Gaming, C. Lohman Games, and Brandy’s Shoreliner Restaurant, in exchange for cash and 50,000 shares of Golden Entertainment stock.

Golden Entertainment of Las Vegas announced it paid million to acquire 1,000 slot machines and enter the Montana gaming market.

Golden Entertainment bought the slots and other businesses from C. Lohman Games, Rocky Mountain Gaming, and Brandy’s Shoreliner Restaurant, in exchange for cash and 50,000 shares in Golden Entertainment.

“Entering the Montana gaming market is an exciting opportunity to expand our disciplined operating strategy to new markets and diversify the geographic reach of our distributed gaming operations,” Golden CEO Blake Sartini said in a statement.

The combined routes of the three businesses give Golden Entertainment one of the largest slots routes in Montana, and Sartini said the transaction will be funded by cash and credit.

While Golden Entertainment is taking ownership of the routes, it signed agreements with the three former owners to help ensure continued maintenance and operational continuity.

Sartini said the move into Montana has been in the works since merging with Lakes Entertainment last year.

Golden Entertainment has 7,600 slot machines in 670 Nevada locations, and has 46 taverns under the PT’s, Sierra Gold, and Sean Patrick’s brands.
