The Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana will not open in January as previously planned, but is still moving forward with plans to hire about 800 full and parttime dealer positions for the resort.
The $300 million casino is now expected to open in the spring. The casino has scheduled two hiring events for this month on November 17 and 19 at the Majestic Star Casino Pavilion, 1 Buffington Harbor Drive, Gary.
The company said no experience is needed for the positions and that it’s looking for job candidates with great personalities and will train new hires as dealers. Candidates will be able to attend a paid, 8- to 12-week dealer school training program.
Under Indiana law, all current employees at Gary’s Majestic Star casinos will be transferred to the Hard Rock Casino However, the company says more staff is needed for the 1,600 slots and 80 table games inside the 200,000-square-foot entertainment destination, according to a press release.
The casino also will feature five dining venues, an on-site sports book, retail shops, and a 1,954-seat Hard Rock Live performance venue. The second phase of the project will be a 200-room hotel adjacent to the casino and an attached, multi-level parking garage.
Hard Rock has pledged to hire local workers and to invest and purchase from northern Indiana companies, including businesses owned by racial minorities and women, the release said.
