Hard Rock Sioux City Rates Four Diamonds

Hard Rock Hotel Sioux City, opened less than a year, received AAA's coveted Four Diamond Rating, awarded to only 5.4 percent of 28,000 AAA-approved hotels. The $126 million property helped the Sioux City market grow from $48 million in revenue in fiscal 2014 to more than $70 million in 11 months of operation.

Open less than one year, the Hard Rock Hotel Sioux City has earned AAA’s Four Diamond rating, making it the fourth in Iowa and the first in the region to receive the rating. AAA’s evaluation stated the 54-room hotel, located in the upper floors of the historic Battery Building, is “refined, stylish with upscale physical attributes, extensive amenities and a high degree of hospitality, service, and attention to detail.” Only 5.4 percent of more than 28,000 hotels approved by AAA make the Four Diamond list.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City General Manager Todd Moyer said, “We’re humbled and honored to receive the Four Diamond rating. To be considered an elite property less than one year after opening our doors is an amazing accomplishment for our team, and we look forward to providing our guests with the best Iowa has to offer.”

Moyer added, “This first year was such an incredible, rewarding whirlwind.” In its brief existence, the $126 million Hard Rock Sioux City has welcomed more than 2 million visitors, presented more than 200 shows and paid out more than $13.3 million in jackpots. In addition, more than 322,000 buffet meals were served and more than 5,600 collectible pins.

The property, which has 562 employees, helped the Sioux City gaming market grow from $48 million in revenue in fiscal year 2014 to more than $70 million in the 11 months of operation. That number is expected to increase by several million by the end of the year. In addition, the casino has contributed more than $2.9 million for grant awards for community improvement projects.

Sioux City Mayor Bob Scott said, “Hard Rock has made quite the impression on Sioux City. They’ve helped improve the downtown area, have done an excellent job drawing in visitors and have proven to be an important and valuable player in the community.”
