Hard Rock to Open in Santo Domingo

Hard Rock International has announced plans for its second hotel and casino in the Dominican Republic. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Santo Domingo (l.) will feature 400 hotel rooms and suites and a casino. It will be the second Hard Rock casino in the country, after the first in Punta Cana.

Property to open in 2017

Hard Rock International is developing a casino hotel in Santo Domingo in collaboration with the All Inclusive Collection, the sales and marketing arm of Hard Rock Hotels. The property, with 400 rooms and suites, is scheduled to open in late 2017.

“The Dominican Republic is the region’s most visited country and continues to be the top performing destination in the Caribbean,” said Nelson Parker, vice president of casino development for Hard Rock International. “In fact, the country received 19 percent of the record number of 26.3 million visitors to the Caribbean region in 2014. The decision to bring a full service hotel and the brand’s second Caribbean casino to the Dominican Republic is a testament to the country’s remarkable strength in tourism.

He added that the Dominican Republic has seven international airports, 28 golf courses and more than 1,000 miles of beaches. “It’s easy to understand how the Dominican Republic maintains an average year-round hotel occupancy of 87 percent,” said Parker.

The property will include a 23,000-square-foot casino with 400 slot machines and 40 table games; a race and sports book; a private VIP room; as well as a screening room and a nightclub. It will also offer 33,000 square feet of meeting space. Needless to mention, the property will also have a number of Hard Rock-branded amenities, including a Rock Shop, Rock Spa, and Body Rock gym. The hotel is within easy access to Santo Domingo’s Blue Mall, home of the Hard Rock Cafe Santo Domingo.
