Heating Plan for Revel Atlantic City

A plan to heat the closed Revel casino in Atlantic City has been submitted to the city. The closed casino has had numerous utility problems as its owners fight it out with the owners of the building’s power plant.

A plan to heat the former Revel Casino Hotel with boilers has been submitted to Atlantic City’s licensing and inspections division.

The Press of Atlantic City said the plan involves installing boilers on the property’s ground floor near the parking garage. The building has been without heat for months, but needs a plan to keep pipes from freezing during the upcoming winter. The city requires property owners to keep their buildings heated to at least 40 degrees.

Glenn Straub, owner of the property through Polo North Country Club Inc., has been fighting to provide power to the vacant tower and is in a legal dispute with ACR Energy, he owners of the site’s power plant, which also supplies heat to the building.

In another matter, a group of investors that have sued ACR Energy and its parent company South Jersey Industries are seeking a default judgment saying the companies have not responded to their lawsuit by a set deadline. The investors claim that the utilities misrepresented the status of bonds to finance the construction of the Revel power plant—which were in default—when they purchased them.
