Hong Kong lawmaker Abraham Shek Lai Him will join Asian casino investor Landing International Development Ltd. as an independent non-executive director, with 75.3 shareholder votes in favor of his appointment, and 25.3 percent against.

Shek was appointed to the board of the Hong Kong-listed firm in August, reported GGRAsia. Only 75.3 percent of the shareholder votes that were cast on the matter.

Shek was described by Landing as being an independent non-executive director at 17 other Hong Kong-listed public companies, including Macau casino operator SJM Holdings Ltd. and Far East Consortium International Ltd., which is involved in a casino resort project in Queensland, Australia.
