The Horizon Casino Resort in South Lake Tahoe has been renamed the Park Tahoe Casino Resort, announced Jon and David Park, managers of the Park Family-owned NevaOne LLC.
The resort will undergo a $40 million-plus renovation starting in April. The upgrade will include remodeled rooms, new and remodeled restaurants and bars, as well as a new casino floor. An outdoor bar and dining are planned, including fire pits. The casino that opened in 1965 as Del Webb’s Sahara Tahoe is expected to reopen before the end of the year. About 130 employees are eligible to reapply for their current jobs.
Jon and David Park, managers of Neva One LLC, released a statement saying, “Our family has been active in the Lake Tahoe region for more than 100 years and we care deeply about the local community. Over the next few months we will be working on the transition on the horizon as well as formulation the final redevelopment plans and timelines.”
Warner Gaming has been picked to manage the casino, pending commission approval. Warner and its affiliated companies manage nine U.S. properties. The Horizon will be its first property in Northern Nevada.
“I could not be more excited to be joining forces with the Park family and helping usher in the next chapter of this property’s history,” Warner Gaming President Bill Warner said in a statement. “We look forward to the transition process over the coming months.”
