Imperial Pacific’s temporary casino (l.) on the island of Saipan generated $1.44 billion in December, down 11.7 percent from November, when the temporary casino launched VIP gaming.

.1 billion permanent resort to open this year

Casino operator Imperial Pacific International Holdings Ltd. generated MOP11.52 billion (US$1.44 billion) in VIP rolling chips from its temporary casino on the island of Saipan in December, the company reported in a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. That’s down from US$1.63 billion in November, or a decline of 11.7 percent, reported the Macau Business Daily.

The casino, which also serves as a personnel-training center for 600 employees, opened in July of last year. With 45 gaming tables and 106 electronic games, the casino is run by Hong Kong-listed Best Sunshine International, a subsidiary of IP, which is developing a $7.1 billion integrated resort on Garapan. The Grand Mariana Casino and Hotel Resort should be complete by December, according to reports.

In 2014, the lottery commission of the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands voted unanimously to grant a conditional license to Best Sunshine for its casino resort, which will include four hotels. According to the Asia Gaming Brief, Managing Director Yan Shen said the temporary property averages almost 6,000 patrons per day.
