IPI Paces Development on Saipan

Imperial Pacific International Holdings Ltd. has announced a revised development plan for its integrated resort on Saipan. The new arrangement gives the company until August 2028 to fully finish construction.

Soft opening July 6

Imperial Pacific International Holdings, which is developing the only casino resort on the Pacific island of Saipan, has amended its casino license agreement, giving it more than 10 years to completely build out the project.

According to the Asia Gaming Brief, the company has until next August to finish a 329-room four- or five-star luxury hotel, 15 villas and 14,400 square meters (155,000 square feet) of gaming space.

By August 2023, it will have to complete the integrated resort with 800 rooms, at least 10,000 square meters of gaming area plus an entertainment venue with an amphitheater.

Finally, by no later than August 2028, the second phase of the resort should be completed, with the total gaming area reduced to 7,000 square meter. At build-out, the resort will have at least 875 rooms and 185 villas, AGB reported.

Imperial Pacific Resort Hotel marked its soft opening July 6, and concurrently closed its Best Sunshine temporary casino, which had been operating out of a space inside the upscale T Galleria shopping mall in Garapan.

Imperial Pacific has a 25-year exclusive integrated resort license on Saipan, the largest island in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S.-controlled territory. It has pledged to invest US$7.1 billion in the Imperial Pacific Resort Hotel.
