Italy remains on lockdown following orders from the government to shelter in place to stem the tide of Covid-19 infections. Rome-based betting operator Newgioco complied by closing 150 betting shops throughout the country.

Newgioco Group Chief Executive Michele Ciavarella said the company is monitoring Coiv-19 circumstances closely.

“Although we have been directly affected by government directives to close all non-essential public gathering venues, which includes all betting shops and bingo halls throughout Italy, the company has recently taken significant steps to expand our global distribution in over 13 countries,” said Ciavarella.

She said the firm’s “long-term fundamentals remain robust.”
