Gaming halls across Italy started to reopen last week after a shutdown of more than three months. All retail gaming venues were forced to when the country went into lockdown March 10 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
At one time, Italy was the epicenter of Covid-19 contagion in Europe, with streets virtually deserted and residents under a stay-at-home order. Gaming halls were permitted to reopen starting June 12 under strict health and safety guidelines, reported CDC Gaming Reports.
Employees and patrons must wear protective face masks when entering the facility, and visitors must undergo temperature checks. Hand sanitizer stations are required, and signs must be displayed to promote social distancing.
Operators who breach these requirements could face five-day operating suspensions.
SKS365 was one of the first major operators to announce that it would resume retail activities, setting out plans to begin reopening its 1,000 Planetwin365 shops across the country
In line with the new Covid-19 measures, SKS365 has put in place a number of measures to prevent the spread of the virus, including placing an ‘Opening Safety Kit’ in each shop. This includes masks, sanitizing gels and dividing barriers for use at the facility.
SKS365 CEO Alexander Martin said the shops “will reopen in a safe and even better operational way.”
Chief Product and Technology Officer Jim Parkins said the Austria-based company has updated its point-of-sale systems for the reopening.
“The new Planetwin365 self-service bet booking system represents the biggest change since the launch of our retail systems,” he said. “Apart from significantly improving the speed and experience placing bets, along with our market leading betting terminals, the new software will help shop owners and customers maintain safe social distancing.
“Additionally, locating all our 1,000 Planetwin365 shops are now easily findable for customers in Google maps, Apple maps, Waze and 45 other social mapping solutions.”
