The Philippines’’ gaming regulator PAGCOR (Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.) has approved of the Japan-based Tiger Resort, Leisure & Entertainment, Inc (TRLEI) a subsidiary of gaming conglomerate Universal Entertainment Corp. to offer online gaming from its integrated casino resort Okada Manila in the Philippine capital.
TRLEI is authorized to provide online table games and electronic slot machines, making it the first among the four integrated resorts in Manila’s Entertainment City to do so.
Universal issued this statement: “The group considers this online gaming as the first step and will continue to develop online sports betting gaming using its proprietary technology.”
It also stated: “The system is scheduled to go into operation after clearing various conditions, such as confirmation of compliance with casino regulations and test simulations, including proper collection of casino license fees and anti-money laundering regulations.”
The timing is good since Okada Manila suffered $86 million in losses last year. Several Manila casinos suspended operations beginning last March in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
