After consulting with the Kansas governor’s office and the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission, the Kansas Lottery shut down the four state-owned casinos on Tuesday, March 17. Earlier, Governor Laura Kelly had issued an executive order banning gatherings of 50 people or more to combat the coronavirus, according to CDC recommendations.

The four state-owned casinos are the Hollywood Casino in Kansas City, Kansas Crossing in Pittsburg, Boot Hill Casino in Dodge City and Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane. The hotel at the Kansas Star will remain open.

Kansas Lottery and casino managers said they will actively monitor the pandemic situation and continue to comply with government recommendations for operational procedures.
