Former Republic of Ireland and Manchester United football team Captain Roy Keane reached an out-of-court settlement with Paddy Power, whom Keane said infringed on his image rights in its “Euro 2016–Braveheart” campaign. No details on the settlement were made available.

Keane sued Paddy Power in July in Ireland’s Commercial Court, claiming he would seek aggravated damages since his image had been used without his prior knowledge or consent and his constitutional rights therefore had been breached. The lawsuit stated the bookmaker’s marketing campaign was “a serious and flagrant misrepresentation and a misuse of the substantial and valuable goodwill enjoyed by Mr. Keane in his name, image, likeliness and professional reputation.”
