Shannon Keel recently was named general manager at the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort in Hogansburg, New York. Interim Assistant General Manager Emily Lauzon held the position after former General Manager Patrick Bassney resigned May 1. Most recently Keel was general manager at the Reserve Casino Hotel in Central City, Colorado, where she improved revenue and market share by 10 percent. Keel also served as vice president and general manager at the Golden Mardi Gras, Gates and Gulch Casinos in Black Hawk, Colorado and worked in casino services management at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
Chief Ron LaFrance said, “Shannon comes to the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort with more than ten years of senior-level casino resort management experience and a proven track record on increasing revenue. Her extensive knowledge of financial analysis and marketing strategies, coupled with superior guest relations and hotel operations, made her an ideal candidate for general manager. Her accomplishments as a gaming and hotel executive placed her in the top three out of 65 individuals that applied for the position from across the country.”
Added Keel, “I am honored and excited to have been selected to oversee a beautiful property and work with such a dedicated group of individuals. I look forward to improving upon an already strong foundation of impressive financial results, guest service, quality and sense of community.”
