Lake Charles Golden Nugget Expanding

Construction is under way on a 300-room hotel tower at the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Tilman Fertitta recently announced. It's expected to open by the end of the year. The property already offers 740 luxury rooms and suites.

Tilman Fertitta, owner of the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, Louisiana, recently announced construction has begun on a 300-room hotel tower on the south side of the pool area. The addition will be completed by the end of 2016, Fertitta said. Construction already has begun for the new tower.

The Golden Nugget, located three hours from Houston, opened in December 2014. It features 740 luxury hotel rooms and suites, a golf course and country club, Landry’s restaurants, retail, an 18,000 square foot ballroom and 30,000 square feet of meeting space. The property also offers a pool, private beach front and marina. The casino floor has 1,600 slots, 77 table games and a poker room.

Houston-based billionaire gambling mogul and restaurateur Fertitta owns Golden Nugget casinos in Las Vegas, Biloxi and Atlantic City in addition to the petrochemical town Lake Charles.
