Land-based gambling Still No. 1 in Britain

Figures released by the UK Gambling Commission show that land-based gambling is still dominant over online gambling in the British market. Land based gambling generated more than €3.3 billion last year compared to €1.1 billion for online gambling.

The UK Gambling Commission has released figures showing that the majority of British gambling revenue still comes from land-based gambling venues over online gambling sites.

The British gambling industry generated a total gross gambling yield of almost £6.7 billion (€8.4 billion/$11.4 billion) between October 2012 and September 2013, excluding the National Lottery.

Non-remote betting generated £3.3 billion. The online sector followed with just under £1.1 billion in while remote operators also generated just under £1.1 billion.

GGY attributed to remote operators is now almost double the £632.2 million generated in the period from April 2009 to March 2010.
