Leadership Switch at Melco

Melco Resorts and Entertainment has announced that effective December 10, Kevin Benning became senior vice president and property general manager of the company’s Studio City casino resort in Macau. Benning replaced Geoff Andres, who moved to Benning’s former position as chief operating officer at Melco’s Philippines unit.

According to Inside Asian Gaming, the switch was first announced by Melco in April but was delayed due to travel restrictions that prevented the travel between Macau and the Philippines.

The company had previously undertaken a comprehensive shakeup of its executive team in September 2019, with Evan Winkler appointed President, Davis Sisk as chief operating officer of Macau Resorts, Andy Choy moving from property president of Altira Macau to chief operating officer international and Raymond Lo becoming president of Altira Macau and Mocha Clubs.

Studio City, currently in the process of developing Phase 2 at a cost of around US$1.3 billion, recently completed a US$500 million fundraising initiative via an offering of Class A shares to investors that saw Melco boost its holding in the company from 54.1 percent to 54.7 percent.

The Macau News reported that Prior to that, he was the vice president of casino marketing for Resorts World Sentosa and also acted as the executive director of marketing operations for Sands China Ltd.

Geoff Andres, previously Property President of City of Dreams Manila from November 2015 to February 2018, will return to his former role in Benning’s place in what is effectively a direct swap.

“In such role, Mr. Benning will be responsible for the operations of Studio City,” noted the statement.
