Macau Theme Park Awaits Approval

A theme park planned for Macau’s Cotai Strip adjacent to SJM’s Lisboa Palace is still waiting for approval from the local government. The family-friendly project includes an indoor beach with wave pool, amusement rides, horseback riding and a convention center.

A Macau theme park proposed in 2010 by SJM Holdings Executive Director Angela Leong has yet to be approved by the local government. Leong says the complex on the Cotai Strip will have five hotels and plenty of family-focused entertainment, including an indoor beach, amusement rides, and horseback riding, as well as five hotels.

The theme park will be built next to the Lisboa Palace, which is owned by SJM Holdings, according to GGRAsia.

When the project was first announced, promoters said the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China had agreed to lend MOP1 billion (US $125 million) to the developers.
