A group that wants voters to authorize a new slots casino in York County, Maine says that it has collected enough signatures to put the measure on the ballot and has turned the petitions in to the Secretary of State’s office. The office has 30 days to verify the signatures.

This same group attempted to gather enough signatures for such a measure last spring, but failed. In 2016 the Maine Senate turned down a bill that would have authorized a casino in either Cumberland or York counties.
