Mandalay Bay and Monte Carlo Receive Upgrades

MGM Resorts International continues to make moves, this time by investing $100 million in upgrades for its 3,211 rooms at Mandalay Bay (l.), and the addition of a 5,000-seat theater at the Monte Carlo. MGM Resorts did not disclose how much the theater will cost.

It looks like the south side of the Las Vegas Strip will receive a few more upgrades, and this time it’s for the Monte Carlo and Mandalay Bay. Mandalay Bay most recently completed a massive remodel and upgrade to its convention area, and will now spend 0 in upgrades for its 3,211 rooms by spring 2016.

The changes will be seen in its three new categories of rooms: the Resort Collection, the Suite Collection, and the Luxury Collection. The Resort Collection will feature upgraded furnishings, ranging from white and cobalt color schemes to rich lavender and mocha. The Suite Collection will include a large table to be used for business or social purposes, while the Luxury Collection will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, dining rooms and bars.

This will mark the latest MGM property to get such upgrades, with the most recent being the Bellagio, which just finished the completion of upgrades and a new look to its 3,339 rooms.

The Monte Carlo, which recently was speculated on as possibly changing its entire brand, and could potentially include a makeover including a name change, announced it will build a 5,000 theater expected to open at the end of 2016. The upgrade will move the Blue Man Group show to the Luxor, while the Jabbawockeez dance troupe will move from the Luxor to the MGM Grand Las Vegas.
