Maryland’s six casinos generated the third-highest monthly revenues in the industry’s history for month of April, according to numbers released by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency.
The state’s casinos generated $162 million in revenue last month, following an all-time record of $169 million in March. While the state’s casinos were closed for all of April 2020, the revenue numbers represent a 12 percent increase over April 2019.
The casinos raised their revenues last month despite some ongoing limits due to the pandemic. Due to local orders, MGM National Harbor and Baltimore’s Horseshoe Casino were limited to 50 percent capacity during April.
MGM National Harbor posted a 2.5 percent increase in gaming revenue to $62 million in April 2021, compared with April 2019. Live! Casino & Hotel in Hanover increased gaming revenue to $58 million in April 2021, an increase of $10.4 million (21.7 percent) over April 2019.
