Maryland casinos are now permitted to double the guests allowed in their properties, as Governor Larry Hogan last week eased restrictions put in place in December that had limited casinos and restaurants to operating at 25 percent capacity.
Casinos, restaurants, and other large outdoor and indoor venues are now permitted to operate at 50 percent capacity, the same as last summer when they originally reopened following a shutdown of several months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Hogan cut the capacity in half last December to prevent the kind of surge in Covid-19 cases over the Christmas holiday that occurred over the Thanksgiving holiday.
The mask mandate, physical distancing and other safety protocols will remain in place for the foreseeable future, although quarantine requirements related to out-of-state visitors have been lifted.
