Maryland Regulators Consider Outdoor Slots

The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Agency is considering Hollywood Casino Perryville's request to move 14 slots to an outdoor smoking patio. Smoking is prohibited inside the state's five casinos but is allowed in outdoor gambling areas, like those at Rock Gap in Cumberland and Horseshoe in Baltimore.

Hollywood Casino Perryville recently asked the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Agency for permission to move 14 of its slot machines to an existing smoking patio. If regulators approve the request, the casino would build a retaining wall and a roof over the patio. Agency staff previously approved the request.

Smoking is prohibited inside the state’s five casinos but it’s allowed in outdoor gambling areas. Both Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Cumberland and Horseshoe Casino Baltimore currently offer slot machines in outdoor smoking areas.
