Massachusetts House minority caucus leader Brad Hill has been appointed by Governor Charlie Baker, the Attorney General and Treasurer to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
Hill will take the place of Bruce Stebbins, who has been appointed to the Cannabis Control Commission beginning next year, and will finish out his term, which expires in 2025.
He was appointed to the commission seat that is reserved for a member who has experience with professional gaming regulation, administration or gaming industry management.
Hill said in a statement: “It has been my distinct honor and privilege to serve the people of Massachusetts and the 4th Essex District for nearly 25 years.” He added, “I am deeply grateful to the Governor, Treasurer and Attorney General for this incredible opportunity to continue supporting the Commonwealth, and am eager to begin this new chapter working alongside my fellow commissioners.”
Hill plans to resign from the House effective September 15 and take his place on the commission the next day.
The commission regulates the gaming industry in the Bay State.
