Melco Crown Philippines Names New COO

Melco Crown Philippines has appointed a new chief operating officer for City of Dreams Manila. Geoffry P. Andres took the job effective November 16, replacing Kevin Sim, who reportedly left for “personal reasons.”

In a filing to the Philippine Stock Exchange last week, Melco Crown Philippines announced it has appointed Geoffry P. Andres as chief operating officer. He will replace Kevin Sim, who resigned earlier this month for “personal reasons.”

The website CalvinAyre.com, citing Andres’s LinkedIn profile, reported that he is the former CEO of Casino Canberra and also worked as senior vice president and general manager of Sands Macau.

He now moves to City of Dreams Manila at the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation’s (PAGCOR) Entertainment City in the capital city. The integrated resort opened in February, and has struggled out of the gate. It has already suspended 100 workers to cut costs. But the casino forecasts that it will finish strong in 2015, thanks to strong high-roller play.

City of Dreams Manila reported a third quarter revenue of $91.7 million, up from Q2’s $75 million. The casino’s earnings also doubled to $24.4 million, while VIP turnover more than doubled to $1.2 billion.
