MGM Announces National Harbor Hires

MGM National Harbor last week supplemented its upper management with new hires that will drill down and produce dramatic results. Alex Alvarado (l.) will serve as vice president of slot operations.

MGM National Harbor announced last week that it had brought on experienced casino management designed to hit the ground running when the property opens later this year.

The new hires include Alex Alvarado, vice president, slot operations; Jeffrey Elmore, vice president, table games; William Zeralsky, vice president, national marketing; Cynthia So, vice president, Asian marketing; Johnny Grooms, poker director; and Dominic Marci, vice president, customer development.

Alvarado was director of slot operations at Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica, Mississippi, and prior to that was director of slot operations at Hollywood Casino in West Virginia. He also has managed slot operations at both MGM Grand and the Mirage in Las Vegas.

Elmore, a 30-year industry veteran, has served as vice president of casino operations at New York-New York Hotel & Casino and vice president of casino operations at the Mirage.

Zeralsky joined MGM in 2007 and has served in a variety of strategy, finance, and marketing roles, most recently as vice president of casino marketing for regional operations.

So has more than 16 years ago with MGM, serving as executive director of Far East marketing during the 2009 opening of Aria in Las Vegas and most recently as assistant vice president for Far East marketing.

Grooms managed the poker room at Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Miss., and was tournament director for the poker department at Gold Strike in Tunica. As a tournament director for Harrah’s Entertainment he hosted the 2005 World Series of Poker.

Marci was vice president of national marketing for Foxwoods Resort Casino, where he assisted in the opening of the Grand Pequot Towers Hotel & Casino, the MGM Grand Resort Casino at Foxwoods, Lake of Isle Golf Courses and the Tanger Outlets.
