Mohegan Sun Revenues Up, Foxwoods Down

Revenues are up substantially at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, while revenues are down slightly at Foxwoods Resort Casino, the Sun’s longtime rival.

The Mohegan Sun’s casinos in Connecticut had $1.08 billion in revenues in the fiscal year that ended last September. That was an increase of 5.7 percent over the previous year. Much of this was attributed to the opening in November 2016 of the 400-room Earth Hotel.

For the same period Foxwoods Resort Casino totaled $848.1 million, 1.2 percent lower than the year before. The information on the casinos is available online.

Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, which operates the tribe’s properties outside of Connecticut, reported to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that its revenues for the Mohegan Sun Pocono in Pennsylvania totaled $1.38 billion, 3.3 percent higher than last year.

The Pequot tribe recently announced that it had realigned an outstanding loan that had been set to expire at the end of this year. That loan was extended until June 30, 2019.
