Mystic Lake Building Hotel, Convention Center

Ground will be broken next April for a new hotel tower and convention center at Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota. Owned and operated by Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Gaming Enterprise, the project, to be completed by the end of 2017, will create 400 construction jobs and 100 permanent jobs.

Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Gaming Enterprise, owners and operators of Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota, announced the property will add a new hotel tower and convention center. Construction will begin in April 2016 and be completed by the end of 2017, creating 400 construction jobs and 100 permanent jobs.

SMSC President/Chief Executive Officer Edward Stevenson said, “We are always working to identify new opportunities that will enhance Mystic Lake Casino Hotel as a full-service resort. Adding this first-class hotel tower and convention space will meet the growing demand and help set the tone for our 25th anniversary in 2017.”

The new nine-story hotel tower will have 180 rooms, with many offering a panoramic view of the Meadows at Mystic Lake championship golf course. The additional rooms will boost Mystic Lake Casino Hotel to the second largest hotel in the metro area and the third largest in the state. Also, all of the existing hotel rooms will be remodeled by the end of 2015.

The new 70,000 square foot, state-of-the-art convention center, which will be the fourth largest in the metro area, will feature two large ballrooms and several smaller meeting rooms, plus an outdoor patio and an executive board room with a balcony overlooking the golf course.

The SMSC, which received federal recognition in 1969, donated $27,916,775 million in 2013, according to the most recent 2014 donation report.
