Due to unforeseen plumbing and other repairs, the former Isle of Capri Casino Hotel in Natchez, Mississippi will remain closed until sometime in November, Magnolia Bluffs Casino President Kevin Preston said. Originally the hotel was going to close for two days to switch over computer systems before reopening as the Magnolia Bluffs Hotel.
Isle of Capri recently sold the hotel for $11.5 million to Magnolia Bluffs Casino’s parent company, Casino Holding Investment Partners, and closed the Isle of Capri Casino.
Preston had said the planned rebranding and renovation of the hotel would begin almost immediately after reopening, with lobby remodeling and exterior painting taking about 30 days. Following that, he said all hotel rooms would be remodeled within four months.
Isle of Capri spokeswoman Jill Alexander said the company is deciding what equipment in the casino can be used at the company’s 14 other properties across the U.S. “It’s going to take a period of time to unwind the business,” she said.
The Isle of Capri owned the Natchez property since 2000. It opened in 1993 as the Lady Luck Casino. Although it generated $23 million in revenue in fiscal 2015, and overall company revenue increased 5 percent in 2015, revenue at the Isle of Capri Natchez declined since Magnolia Bluffs Casino opened in Natchez in December.
