Navajos Celebrate Casino’s Eighth Anniversary

Fire Rock Navajo Casino near Gallup, New Mexico will kick off its 8-year anniversary November 19, showcasing renovations to the gaming floor, restaurant and parking areas. The property has employed hundreds of Navajos and now trains staff for the tribe's three other properties that have opened in the past 10 years.

Eights will rule as Fire Rock Navajo Casino in the Church Rock Chapter, near Gallup, New Mexico celebrates its eighth birthday on Saturday, November 19. A Triple 8X Giveaway will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with a Bingo Anniversary Celebration starting at 8 p.m. Cheii’s Restaurant will feature an 8-ounce rib eye steak special for .99 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Cake-and-punch celebrations are set for 12 noon to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, November 19.

The Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise opened Fire Rock Navajo Casino on November 19, 2008. Located on I-40 between Gallup and Albuquerque, the property attracts travelers and locals, featuring a gaming floor with live roulette, bingo, 917 slot machines, nine table games and virtual horseracing. Seating in the slot and table games areas on the casino floor has been redone for greater player comfort and aesthetics. Other amenities include a food court, large screen TVs and live music.

Renovations recently were completed at Cheii’s Restaurant to update the kitchen, increase seating and update the décor. Besides traditional Navajo favorites, the new menu features New Mexican-style cuisine with local flavor.

Also the east parking lot now has been upgraded with new lighting, paving and striping, a Blue Light Safety Communications system, guard rails and designated walkways for improved guest safety.

Hundreds of Navajos have worked at the property, which trains employees for the tribe’s three other properties that have opened in the past 10 years.
