Nevada Gaming Control Board Appoints New Chief Investigator

On January 21, Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) Deputy Chief Carl D. Hoffman was appointed as chief of the board’s Investigations Division. Hoffman has been with the board since March 1993 and has served as deputy chief of investigations since 2016.

Chief Hoffman succeeds Mike LaBadie, who retired on December 10, 2021 after more than 35 years.

“Chief Hoffman’s career with the Gaming Control Board makes him the right choice to take the reins of the Investigations Division,” said board Chairman J. Brin Gibson. “I have no doubt that Chief Hoffman will continue to uphold Nevada as the standard bearer in gaming regulation, as applicants for gaming licenses in the Silver State become more sophisticated, increasingly global, and forge new sectors of the gaming industry.”

The Investigations Division looks at applicants for nonrestricted and restricted gaming licenses, oversees corporate securities for publicly-traded corporations and implements a compliance program for larger licensees in the state.
