The latest round of data from the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) showed that Nevada logged over $1.31 billion in statewide gaming win in October, the best ever for the month and a 2.7 percent increase year-over-year.
Revenue from the Las Vegas Strip came in at $714.5 million, bolstered heavily by strong baccarat numbers. The game brought in $89.8 million for the month, a huge 43.2 percent year-over-year increase—without those figures, the Strip would have tallied a 2.9 percent decrease from last year.
The Boulder Strip and Henderson recorded revenues of $88.6 million, a year-over-year increase of 10.3 percent, but NGCB officials noted that this was partly due to timing, as September ended on a Sunday, meaning that weekend totals were lumped in with October.
To the north, Washoe County as a whole reported $96 million in revenue, $70.3 million of that coming from Reno, which represented a 9 percent year-over-year increase for the Biggest Little City.
The Sparks and South Lake Tahoe markets reported decreases of 6.9 percent and 3.4 percent from a year ago, respectively.
State sportsbooks had a great month, reporting $68.1 million in revenue. That was an increase of about 20 percent from last year, despite an 11.4 percent decrease in wagers.
For the year, Nevada as a whole is approximately 3.5 percent ahead of its pace from the same time last year, which ended with a record of $14.8 billion. The Strip, which also set a new record last year, is currently 5.4 percent ahead of that pace.
Analysts and executives will now wait patiently for November’s data, as that will shed light on the real impact of the inaugural Formula One Grand Prix, which took place November 16-18.
