Nevada Tribe Seeks New Compact

The Washoe Tribe of Nevada seeks a new tribal state gaming compact so that it can expand its Wa She Shu Casino.

The Class III gaming compact is more than 10 years old and only allows slot machines at the casino. The tribe would like to add all of the games currently allowed in Nevada, including poker and blackjack, table games and sports betting.

Tribal Chairman Neil Mortimer said in a statement: “I appreciate the governor’s efforts to negotiate this compact with the Washoe Tribe as a sovereign government,” adding “We think this will prove to be an extremely valuable agreement that reflects modern practices in gaming and will benefit both the Washoe community and the state of Nevada.”

The casino, although owned by the Washoe Tribe, is managed by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. It has a 4,600 square foot gaming floor with 130 slots and a restaurant that can accommodate 80 guests.
