New Member Of Bermuda Gaming Commission

The Bermuda Gaming Commission has added a new general counsel, Arlene Brock, who served as First Ombudsman for Bermuda for eight years.

Arlene Brock has been appointed General Counsel to the Bermuda Casino Gaming Commission. Richard Schuetz, executive director of the commission, made the announcement last week.

Previously Brock served as First Ombudsman for Bermuda for eight years. She was also director and vice president for the Caribbean & Latin America at the International Ombudsman Institute.

In addition Brock has been Mediator/Trainer for Conflict Management Inc. (of the Harvard Negotiation Project), and served on the New York Office of the United Nations Center for Human Rights.

The new general counsel frequently speaks at international gathers on the topics of human rights, good government, and transparency, among other issues.

Commenting on the appointment, Schuetz, new to his own job as executive director, said, “Chairman Dunch and the other members of the Casino Gaming Commission gave me clear instructions to assemble the best and the brightest individuals available to assist in the introduction of regulated casinos in Bermuda. Having Ms. Brock join our team abundantly indicates that we are on target with that goal.”
