New York Casino Draws Hundreds of Vendors

Hundreds of hopeful vendors attended recent information sessions conducted by Empire Resorts, which will manage the planned Montreign Resort Casino (l.) near Monticello in New York. The casino is one of three approved for Upstate New York that state and local officials hope will boost stagnating rural economies. A fourth casino awaits approval in the Southern Tier.

More than 500 prospective vendors attended recent vendor-contractor information sessions for the Montreign Resort Casino in New York.

The recently approved casino will be located off Route 17 near Monticello, and anticipates opening in early 2018, but the casino must have its vendors and more than 1,400 workers in place by then.

Empire Resorts will operate the casino, and Executive Vice President Charlie Degliomini says none of the casino’s 1,400 workers will be hired without completing a background check.

The casino is one of three that have been approved in Upstate New York and intended to boost local economies. A fourth casino awaits approval in the Southern Tier.

Empire Resorts CEO Joe D’Amato said the casino will have many needs that vendors will ill, including transportation, maintenance, security, landscaping, and many others.

D’Amato said the casino will begin hiring in about three months.
