No Money Bags for Revel

An armored truck lost $21,000 in cash from Atlantic City’s Revel Casino. A bag of currency was left on top of the truck and managed to stay there for a drive around the city before falling off at an unknown spot. Officials are investigating.

Sometimes, things just don’t go your way.

Revel Atlantic City—which is closing September 2 in bankruptcy—has apparently lost $21,000 in cash which was left in a money bag on top of an armored car.

Various surveillance videos show the bag managed to stay on top of the vehicle while the car visited another casino and then headed out of town, according to the Press of Atlantic City. It apparently finally fell off in an unknown location.

According to the Press, GardaWorld armored car services picked up the cash at Revel on August 6. Surveillance showed the bag holding the cash on the rear driver’s side roof as the truck left Revel.

The car then visited nearby Resort’s Atlantic City and video there showed the bag was still on the roof as it pulled out of the casino. The truck then drove down Pennsylvania Avenue toward Route 40—a major route out of the city—with the bag still on the truck’s roof.

It is not clear when it fell off.

Officials for the armored car company say they are working with local law enforcement to investigate the incident. The bag has not been recovered.
