NSW Cracks Down on Gaming Ads

The Office of Liquor, Gaming & Racing of New South Wales has warned the gaming industry it will not get away with advertising its products without facing stiff penalties. It has targeted a number of operators for what it says are illegal ads.

The gaming regulator of New South Wales is going after gaming operators Tabcorp, Crownbet, bet365 and Unibet for what it says are breaches of its rules about casino advertising.

According to SBC News, the Office of Liquor, Gaming & Racing debuted new advertising standards this year, with increased monitoring of the industry and steeper penalties for infractions. It has set its sights on ads for free play, bonuses or free money. Last month, for example, the OLGR hit Ladbrokes Australia with a $25,000 fine for promoting a “Daily Free Bet Challenge.” Tabcorp has already vowed to fight charges that it breached the policy.
